I so enjoyed listening to this podcast, thank you for sharing it Melani! Sandy sounds lovely and has obviously done a lot of inner work and self reflection and seems to be living her truth now. I came to those lessons of self worth and having boundaries much later in life. When I was younger, I naively assumed others were like me and had no ulterior motives, so I had to learn to protect myself if there were signs that it was necessary. In the end it is about knowing oneself and what one wants and not settle. The irony is that one often finds out what you don’t want, ha ha. A bit like your year of online dating! It all boils down to balance in the end, being okay with just your own company while at the same time keeping an open mind and a sense of wonderment and hopefulness/discovery about new people you meet. without prejudgement.
