My name is Melani Robinson, I live in New York City and I’m a writer, blogger and briefly a podcaster. (I know, we all have a podcast for a minute.) I’m also an accidental online dating expert, but that story is too long for a short bio page.
I live in Harlem with my senior dogs, Kate and Nigel.
I have two brilliant, independent and super cool adult daughters.
I started writing a decade ago when I decided to chronicle a year of online dating. It was my attempt to get back out there, after my husband, Neal, died. I adored him and spent a lot of time wondering if I could love anyone again. I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to meet my next big love online, if the experiences I had were any indication of the web-supply of available men in the Tri-State area. My youngest daughter called my foray into online dating “a shitshow.”
I’ve written for The New York Times, Huffington Post, plus several other publications and I’ve recently finished the first draft of a memoir about the two years my late husband and I lived in Russia. Eastern Europe was a hellscape, but a funny one.
